Putting members first since 2008
Brothers and Sisters of the Northern Unit, it's time to make your vote count.
Over the last 17 years, I have been representing members from all job titles and employers.
I have handled many manager and security interviews, presented grievances at every level, and testified in winning arbitrations. Members that have been unjustly disciplined and terminated from Altice and Verizon have been returned to payroll. These settlements and arbitration wins have resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars being paid back to the members. I can provide you with contact info of several stewards and members that support my election bid.

-Altice Oakland 2020-Effects Bargaining
In 2018, as Chief Steward I spent over a year actively Bargaining a 1st contract for Altice. I was there from the start for every meeting, phone call and subsequent Contract ratification. It was a solid first contract and a great foundation to build on. I was elected Business Agent midway through the next Altice property and completed their contract, followed up right after with the Randolph location.
In 2019, while Business Agent, we presented the first arbitration for lost vacation time/pay due to a disability at Verizon. I was successful in defending our contractual language through multiple executive sessions. Later that year, an agreement was negotiated by me and signed for our PA brothers and sisters allowing them to use some vacation time in hours.
In May 2020, Altice attempted an unfair layoff. They violated a Contractual Provision with regard to who they chose and how they would backfill using outside contractors. A few days later, they announced any remaining technicians would work Friday-Tuesday or Thursday-Monday. I immediately filed grievances and Unfair Labor Practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board. The company was forced to settle these charges and return members to payroll and also eliminate a work schedule that included both weekend days as a result of my affidavit and testimony. Later that same year Altice closed a work location and consolidated members to Oakland. I was able to bargain the effect and maintain their work area even though the garage location was closed.
In late 2021, I was approached by Verizon management to discuss a new buildout of FIOS into our area, which is still expanding today. Verizon also committed to build Boonton at that time and the Wayne area in 2023. This build allowed members to be moved back to our Unit, resulting in them working closer to home with a shorter commute. I was in full support of our Work At Home Agreement for our centers as Business Agent in 2020 and will fight to keep that intact going forward. This was a long time coming and needs to continue.
I am a founding member of the Northwest Jersey Central Labor Council formed in 2018, elected Vice President, and proudly still hold that position today. My involvement with our elected officials aided passing of the Call Center and Unemployment for Striking Workers bills. Morris, Sussex and Warren counties have increased Labor Union Construction projects because of us. Our Council has over 20 Unions and approximately 30,000 members residing in our footprint. My opponent mocks my involvement, how many labor councils are you part of Andy?
These are just a few examples of why I seek your support to lead our once great unit. We are at an all-time low for attendance and participation in Union meetings, with little information being passed down from the current BA, even when you've asked repeatedly for it. When I was your Business Agent, and prior to Covid, our meetings were well attended. Upper-level grievance meetings are now being rescheduled, missed and not being given the proper attention or preparation, they deserve. The Stewards and Chief Stewards have done an excellent job, but they need support from above. As a shop steward, the group that I have represented for the last 3 years, have some of the best working conditions, lowest discipline, low Saturday schedule, and most importantly, the respect of their employer.
In summary, I have been providing members quality representation for 17 years. This includes interviews, grievances, arbitration, NLRB charges, contractual interpretation and bargaining. You deserve this level of service, and I will give that to you in the position of Executive Board of the Northern Unit. I am the most qualified and have a well-documented track record to be your voice going forward. Any member who has ever contacted me has received an answer and a return phone call. Remember, Every member is important.
Are you willing to chance another 3 years?
As always, I am available to discuss any of your questions 973-945-1069. I will host Zoom meetings/calls with those of you working from home or we can meet as a group. Thank you for your consideration.
In Unity,
George Curreri
